We put the question of what genres were popular into our survey. Although there are more film genres than the ones we included in our survey, we only put in the ones we felt we would be able to create effectively and to a high standard. For example, Musicals was quickly dismissed as we didn't feel we would be able to create a musical that lasted just five minutes as in many musicals, one song takes up that much time and also it would be difficult to cast singers and write our own songs. Also, it would require a lot of vocal work, and we didnt feel we would have the time to work with sound in that much detail as well as editing the film. We also dismissed the war catagory for a number of reasons. Firstly, we felt this could fall under other catagories such as action, seondly, we felt that the war gene would require a lot of effects both ehen filming and in editing. We didnt feel we would be able to perform those types of effects to a high enough standard in the limited time we had, therefore we chose not to do this genre. Finally, we didn't choose the war genre as we did not feel this would have been a very popular choice for our desired  group of young adults, and for this reason, we chose not to put it in our survey. We also missed out drama, cime and adventure as we felt these genres could be catagorised within others that we chose to include in our survey.

1. Avatar  ($2,782.3 million worldwide)

2. Titanic  ($2,186.8 million worlwide)

3. Jurassic World  ($1,656.0 million worldwide)

4. Marvel's The Avengers  ($1,519.6 million worldwide)

We then looked a the most successful films of all time as this could influence our decision on which genre we chose. The top four most successful are action/fantasy style films. Each of them rely heavily on effects done post filming. For example, Avatar, the highest grossing film of all time, was made almost completely in after effects, showing what an impact that makes on audiences decisions to view a film. For this reason, we feel we should definitely incorperate effects during the production of the film as it seems to make the film sell. However, as we do not have the timeframe  or software to enable us to produce a film with effects of such high technological standard, we will therefore move away from the action/fantasy genre.

We went on website "Rotton Tomatoes" to find some of the top ilms in each of their respecting genres. Here is a collection of the images of the top films we found. Click the tomatoes to see the top 100 on each list.
